Mapping Study for Certification of Cold Room at Air cargo

//Mapping Study for Certification of Cold Room at Air cargo

Air cargo cold room is generally used to store the temperature-sensitive products so it is necessary to keep the permitted temperature and humidity range inside the cold room otherwise the goods inside the cold room will get spoilt easily.   the Middle East is especially a climatic base region so during summer it is exceedingly hot and in winter it is exceedingly cold. So it is necessary to keep a particular temperature range inside the cold room to keep the goods stored safely.  So air cargo mapping study is used to check whether the particular cold room is maintaining the permitted temperature range and if not through the mapping study they can recommend the temperature monitoring devices for the particular places in the cold room.

GDP-compliance-of-Pharma-Air-Cargo-vackerglobalFor cold rooms at air cargo we conduct humidity mapping as well as the temperature mapping since in case the humidity level is changed inside the cold room there is high probability of goods getting spoiled, so once conducting mapping study for cold rooms we consider the humidity mapping also.

Once commencing the study we send a protocol and acknowledge the customers about the mapping process and this protocol includes all the steps and process of conducting the mapping study as per WHO standards. Cold room mapping study conducts during 3-5 days and that will depend on a number of tests as per the cold room condition. If it is a new cold room we are doing empty test and it will take number of days to complete the qualification studies but if it is an already using cold room we can start with loaded condition because once the cold room is in use it is difficult to unload all the goods to some other place and it will take fewer days to complete the qualification tests.

temperature-mapping-study-procedure-for-air-cargo-vackerglobalFor the cold room mapping studies we conduct two climatic seasonal tests as winter and summer. So to get a clear picture of the temperature and humidity range of the cold room the air cargo company has to complete both winter and summer seasons. Then in any circumstance, if the cold room doesn’t continue the particular temperature and humidity range then the air cargo cold room can use temperature and humidity controllers and temperature and humidity monitoring devices depend on the mapping results.

The acceptable temperature range the cold room has to maintain is 2°C – 8°C and the permitted humidity range is 40% - 65% Rh. And from the results of the test of the mapping study, we can consider the cold room is in which condition. The cold room has to maintain the permitted temperature range during empty condition as well as loaded conditions. We conduct different loaded conditions as per the company preference since they have to move the stored goods to some other place and it won’t be a practical concept if we issue standard loaded ranges. Also, we conduct power failures and door openings inside the air cargo cold room and during both conditions, the temperature and humidity range have to move up from the permitted temperature range because of the effect of the outside temperature level. And all these tests we are conducting based on WHO protocol standards.

temperature-mapping-result-of-air-cargo-cold-room-vackerglobalFor the mapping study, we basically use iMini data loggers to record the temperature and humidity range inside the air cargo cold room and it mentions the temperature and humidity ranges once every 3 minutes until 3-5 days. Since it is a cold room this timing interval is the standard time range.  So based on the recorded data VackerGlobal mapping team will analyze and recommend the cold room condition and if the cold room is not in the expected standard condition VackerGlobal will provide the technical solution for the issues.
